Rank #7 in the USA · Best for compatibility Qs
OkCupid review
OkCupid is the best U.S. app if you care more about answers than abs. It is also one of the more inclusive mainstream options.
Values, identity, and quirky matching
22–40·Free to start · Premium extra·Strong in progressive U.S. cities
Pros
- ✓ Best questionnaire culture after eharmony
- ✓ Welcoming for LGBTQ+ and non-monogamous users
- ✓ Profiles can be genuinely interesting
Cons
- – Less consistent in conservative or rural markets
- – Product has changed a lot over the years
OkCupid still rewards people who like words. You can match on politics, pets, religion, kids, and whether you want a house in Ohio or a lease in Queens. For American daters who got tired of mute swipe stacks, that is the appeal.
It is especially useful if your dating life does not fit a default template: queer, trans, poly, interracial, or simply very particular. Dedicated apps may still be better for some of those lanes, but OkCupid is the mainstream product that tries.
Coverage is spikier than Match. You will have a better time in Portland, Boston, or Minneapolis than in a county with one stoplight. Free use is possible; premium features make discovery easier.
We rank it #7 because the U.S. pool is smaller than Match and the product has been through more redesigns than we would like. The matching idea is still one of the best in the category.
